Importer
of Greek Honey, Organic Olive Oil and Herbs
The
idea behind Demeter's Pantry originated more than two years
ago in the house of some close Greek friends in Cambridge after
having delicious, homemade Greek food. With much nostalgia about Greece,
we contemplated ways to bring to the United States the authentic
Greek food that we grew up with. We talked about taking advantage
of our experiences working with farmer and health food store cooperatives
to reach out and help the small farmers and women’s cooperatives
in Greece that rarely have the opportunity to export their products.
The result of these conversations is Demeter's Pantry, an
import company working with small farmers and beekeepers in Greece.
Our
Mission
| We
are committed to forming strong partnerships with our suppliers.
We are passionate about our business, and we look for that
same passion in our partners. Our products are always certified
organic, naturally growing wild in Greece, or are made with
100% natural ingredients. We help our partners develop products
for the American market. Most of all, we select products that
Greeks would want to have in their own homes. |

Demeter’s
Pantry is named after the goddess Demeter. According to Greek mythology,
Demeter was the goddess of agriculture. She taught men how to make
flour and women how to make bread. For us, she symbolizes a tradition
on family farms in Greece of producing natural, healthful foods,
a tradition that stretches back across 30 centuries, a tradition
that we know you will enjoy.
