Extra Virgin Organic* Olive Oil


As we continue to support organic agriculture in Greece and the formation of independent farming cooperatives, we are introducing this year a new organic olive oil from Mytilini (Lesvos) in North Eastern Aegean sea. One of our closest partners is working in forming an organic farming cooperative in Mytilini. This is the olive oil of one of the organic farmers that he is working with.

This olive oil has an unusual nutty flavor. It is a little less grassy and peppery than the rich oils from Southern Peloponessos and Crete. It has a lighter green color. Some people prefer it because it does not overwhelm dishes that have a delicate flavor, such as salads and fish.

It is made out of two types of olives 25% is Olea Europaea media subrotunda "Adyamitiani” and 75% is Olea Europaea var. pyriformis "Kolovi."

* This oil is produced in an estate that has been certified organic following the European Union Organic standards for over 6 years and is in the process of receiving the USDA certification.
